Hydrant Flushing will begin on April 15 in zones 1 and 4.
Hydrant flushing is the quick release of water from fire hydrants. It’s a controlled procedure that is vital to the general maintenance of the City’s water distribution system. It ensures adequate water flow is available to fire fighters, residents and businesses. It also helps maintain the City’s water clarity and quality by clearing iron and mineral deposits from the water mains (distribution pipes).
While hydrant flushing is happening in your area, you may see some slight discoloration in your water. Residents are cautioned against doing laundry, especially white clothing, while City crews are in the area. Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine where any sediment or discoloration problems may occur.
Water is safe to drink and can be cleared up by running the cold water.
