Community Parks
The largest of the city’s parks is Brook Peterson Community Park, located at 1200 Oak Avenue, near Waconia High School. This 40 acre park includes 8 softball fields, outdoor freestyle skating and ice hockey rinks, and a concession stand. The Waconia Baseball Association has a baseball field at this park, which is now home to the Amateur town Team, “Waconia Lakers”. This park is accessible by walkway from downtown Waconia. Park facilities may be used between the hours of 7 a.m. and midnight.
City Square Park is located near downtown Waconia on Main Street between Pine and Spruce Streets. This park provides play equipment, a picnic shelter, a gazebo that may be reserved through the Parks and Recreation Department for special events, and meandering walking paths. Restroom facilities are open during the summer months. City Square Park is the site for the city's "Music in the Park" summer concerts and Chamber of Commerce events, including Nickle Dickle Day activities in September and Holiday in the Park during the Christmas season. City Square Park facilities may be used between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Dogs are not allowed in City Square Park.
Cedar Point Park, located on Cedar Street at Lake Waconia, has 2 tennis courts, a basketball court, play equipment, picnic tables, and a fishing pier. The walking path along the shore of Lake Waconia continues west along Waconia Parkway to the Sugarbush and Willowbrooke subdivisions. Park facilities may be used between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Waterford Park, located at 1702 Ravencroft Road, is the City's newest community park, featuring the City's new inclusive playground. Waterford Park also includes a 12 acre park with play equipment, walking trails, covered picnic area, garden plots, grills and benches. Future plans include a year-round facility/restroom building.
City Square Park
Paul Melchert Gazebo and Pavilion
The gazebo and picnic pavilion may be rented May 1 through September up to 12 months in advance. For a rental, you may set up your own chairs, tables, sound systems, removable decorations etc. Electricity, water and restrooms are available on-site. Bands are allowed with certain restrictions. Entire balance of the rental is due upon reservation.
Brook Petersen Park
Shelter
A brand new shelter is now available for rental at Brook Peterson Park. This can be rented from May 1 through September up to 12 months in advance. Picnic tables are provided in the shelter. Electricity and restrooms are available on-site. There is also lighting.
Ballfields
A total of 8 ballfields may be rented individually or together May 1 through September up to 12 months in advance. Of the 8 fields, 4 offer lights at an additional charge. Entire balance of the rental is due upon reservation.
Cedar Point Park
Tennis Courts
The two tennis courts may be rented individually or together May 1 through September up to 12 months in advance. Rental of courts is required for persons providing lessons for hire. Entire balance of the rental is due upon reservation.
